Many of our customers come to us for precision-ground bar, wire, or tube — and stay because we can take that material one step further. Our small part manufacturing service produces finished components made to your print, your specification, and your tolerances. We machine, grind, and finish rod-based, wire-based, and tube-based parts complete — so what arrives at your facility is ready to assemble, not ready to process.

This capability is a natural extension of what we already do. Because we control the raw material — sourcing, certifying, straightening, and grinding it ourselves — we arrive at the machining stage with stock that is already held to tight tolerances and free of the dimensional variation that drives scrap and rework in less controlled supply chains. The result is a finished part of consistently higher quality, produced more efficiently than most job shops can achieve starting from standard mill stock.

From certified raw material to finished component — one supplier, one point of contact, one quality system. If it starts as a rod, wire, or tube, we can finish it.

What 'Made to Print' Means at Centerless Products

When you send us a drawing, we review it completely before we quote. We look at every dimension, tolerance, surface finish call-out, material specification, and any applicable standards. If something is ambiguous, under-specified, or likely to create a manufacturing challenge, we’ll raise it before we start — not after we’ve run the job. Our Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review is included as part of the quoting process for new parts, at no additional charge.

We handle one-off prototypes, small production runs, and ongoing repeat programs. For repeat work, we maintain job records, setup sheets, and first-article documentation so that every run starts where the last one left off — not from scratch.

What We Make

  1. 1
    Rod-Based Parts
Solid round components machined and ground from bar stock

Rod-based parts begin as round bar stock — stainless steel, tool steel, nickel alloy, titanium, or virtually any other engineering material — and are machined, turned, ground, and finished to your exact drawing. Because we source and precision-grind our own stock, we start with material that is already rounder, straighter, and more dimensionally consistent than standard mill bar. This translates directly into tighter finished part tolerances, lower scrap rates, and faster cycle times.

    APPLICATION SPOTLIGHT

Crankpins & Wrist Pins — UAV Engines:

Small-displacement UAV and unmanned aircraft engines demand crankpin and wrist pin tolerances that rival automotive racing components, in exotic materials, at very low quantities. We produce these from certified bar stock ground to bearing-grade tolerances, with full material traceability and inspection documentation.

  2. 2
    Wire-Based Parts
Small-diameter components drawn, ground, and finished from wire

Wire-based parts occupy some of the most demanding and highest-consequence territory in precision manufacturing. These components are often implanted in or introduced into the human body, used in minimally invasive surgical instruments, or integrated into devices where failure is not an option. We work with Nitinol, 304V, 316LVM, MP35N, and other specialty wire materials, and we understand the handling, processing, and documentation requirements these applications carry.

    APPLICATION SPOTLIGHT

Actuating Wire — Endoscopic Scissor Device:

Endoscopic scissors require an actuating wire that transmits precise, repeatable force through a flexible catheter to open and close a cutting jaw at the distal tip. The wire must be ground to exact diameter and straightness, with controlled surface finish to minimize friction in the lumen, and produced from material with full biocompatibility and traceability documentation. We produce this type of component from certified medical-grade wire to your exact print.

  3. 3
    Tube-Based Parts
Precision components cut, ground, and finished from tube and hollow stock

Tube-based parts leverage the inherent advantage of hollow stock — reduced weight, the ability to transmit fluids or pass other components through the lumen, and the structural efficiency of a thin-walled cylinder. We work with stainless steel, Nitinol, titanium, nickel alloy, and other tube materials, and we can precision-grind the OD, control wall thickness consistency, cut to length, chamfer, and finish tube-based parts to your dimensional requirements.

    APPLICATION SPOTLIGHT

    Hypotubes — Interventional Cardiology:

Hypotubes for catheter and guidewire applications demand exceptionally tight OD tolerances, consistent wall thickness, and burr-free cut ends — all in materials that must meet ASTM F138, F2063, or equivalent medical specifications with full traceability. We produce hypotube components from certified tube stock, ground and cut to your exact print, with documentation packages ready for your quality system.

    Cannulae — Minimally Invasive Surgery:

Surgical cannulae require precise outer diameters for trocar fit, controlled surface finish for tissue interaction, and absolute cleanliness. We supply cannula blanks and finished components in 304, 316LVM, and 17-4 PH, cut and finished to your specification.

Integrated Manufacturing Capabilities

Small part manufacturing at Centerless Products is not a standalone service — it is integrated into our full suite of precision processing capabilities. Your part benefits from every step in our process, in-house, under one quality system.

Material Sourcing & Certification

We source and certify your raw material to the required specification — ASTM, AMS, ISO, or customer spec — with full lot traceability from mill to finished part.

Centerless Grinding

Precision OD grinding of blanks and finished components across 40+ individual wheel specifications for virtually any material and surface finish requirement.

Straightening

Rotary and pressure straightening to ensure your blanks arrive at the machining stage with the camber and bow control your process requires.

Saw Cutting & Blanking

Close-tolerance cut-to-length blanks that reduce your incoming material prep and minimize waste on the machining floor.

Design for Manufacturability

Pre-quote DFM review on new parts to identify tolerance, material, or process issues before they become production problems.

Quality Documentation

Who This Service Is For

Our small part manufacturing service is designed for manufacturers who need a supplier that understands both the material and the part — not just one or the other. Typical customers include:

  • Medical device OEMs and contract manufacturers needing certified, traceable components in implant-grade and instrument-grade alloys with documentation to support FDA and ISO 13485 requirements
  • Aerospace and defense suppliers requiring small, tight-tolerance components in exotic alloys — Inconel, titanium, PH stainless — where material pedigree and dimensional integrity are non-negotiable
  • Precision machine shops looking to offload material sourcing, grinding, and prep operations to a trusted partner so their equipment stays on higher-value work
  • R&D; teams and prototype programs needing one or two pieces of a complex component in a difficult material, quickly, with full documentation
